Education & Athletics Specialist
Lana has spent almost 30 years working in healthcare as an athletic trainer, spending the last 23 as a professor and administrator of an accredited athletic training education program. While working with students and athletes, Lana saw the daily stressors and struggles of high school and college students. The stigma around mental health was strong in the collegiate setting and few students knew where to go to get help, so Lana felt a pull to get more education on how to help students develop coping skills as well as to provide proactive education to help increase awareness around mental health and suicide.
Lana earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from South Dakota State University, Master of Science in Sports Management from St. Cloud State University, Educational Administration Doctorate from University of South Dakota, a graduate certificate in Sport Social Work from the Alliance of Social Work in Sport, and a graduate certificate in Mental Health Education – Mental Health in Schools and Organizations from Winona State University. She loves learning and has a passion for learning information that can help those around her.
Lana’s passions outside of Lost&Found include spending time with family, especially her husband Brian and son Levi, watching sports, reading, baking, and going for long walks with her dog, Jaxon. She currently lives in Mitchell.
