Lost&Found works alongside college campuses, workplaces, and community organizations to create comprehensive postvention policies and support.
As leaders in colleges, workplaces, and community organizations, you hope you’ve put the correct prevention strategies in place to ensure those who need help reach out before a suicide occurs. However, much like we still practice fire drills even if we hope that we’ve done the preventative work to ensure a building won’t catch on fire, it’s important to have a plan in place in case a suicide does happen.
Here at Lost&Found, we know that creating a Suicide Response Plan, writing death protocols, and having a comprehensive postvention plan can be a daunting task. That is why we created the Campus Postvention Best Practices Guide. This guide puts the latest evidence-based information available into an actionable, easy-to-apply format so your team can spend more time tailoring the plan and policy to your unique needs, instead of spending hours reading through toolkits trying to decipher what you need and what you don’t.
This guide is in the final development stages and not yet broadly available, but if you’d like to request a copy to preview, email Education & Advocacy Manager Dakotah Jordan at djordan@resilienttoday.org.
We are currently working alongside campuses and organizations to build, add to, and revamp their plans and policies so their teams are confident about how to handle a suicide occurring within the organization. Additionally, our team can support your organization with suicide prevention and postvention educational presentations and resources. If you are interested in working with us or have questions, please reach out to Dakotah Jordan at djordan@resilienttoday.org.
Currently, this guide is tailored for college campus audiences, but we are working to adapt the guide to workplace and community applications. If you are a leader in a workplace or community organization, we have additional resources and can help guide you through the postvention planning process. Please reach out.
Disclaimer: If your organization has recently experienced a suicide death, we can advise you on best practices to use for notifying your community about the death and how to appropriately provide support to those directly and indirectly affected. However, Lost&Found is not a crisis organization and will not respond outside of regular business hours for support requests. Please reach out to 911 or 988 if this is an immediate crisis.
