A member of the Board of Directors for The Lost & Found Association serves as the ultimate decision-making body of a national youth depression and suicide prevention 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Board members are actively engaged over the course of their three-year elected terms, guiding and determining organizational strategy, budget, and policy changes that govern the operations of Lost & Found.

This role is volunteer by nature, but poses great responsibility as Board members are granted voting power on the Board of Directors over basic decisions governing the organization (e.g., budgets) but also selection of corporate officers (e.g., President, Vice President, Secretary, etc.), approval of contracts and staff, and any structural changes to the organization. Board members play a critical role in ensuring the organization is meeting its mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives.


  • Attend regularly scheduled Board meetings (minimum four, annually) as called by the President of the Board of Directors. Board members may call special meetings when necessary.
  • Conduct business in meetings and electronically in accordance with The Modern Rules of Order, the By-Laws of The Lost & Found Association, and Lost & Found Code of Conduct, including disclosure of conflicts of interest.
  • Act in decision-making capacity to best serve the mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of The Lost & Found Association.
  • Complete regular reporting for scheduled Board meetings of all activities completed following previous board meeting.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the President of the Board of Directors.


  • Anticipated time commitment is ~10-15 hours per month. Focus of time commitment will be:
    – Board meetings, currently scheduled once every other month. Primary tasks include review of recommendations; volunteer, office, and staff reports; budget items and progress.
    – Additional time commitment may be required between meetings to review updates, decisions requiring action via email, and provide guidance to operational staff as requested.
  • Board members are elected to a three (3) year term, renewable by election of the Board of Directors.


Position is volunteer-based; compensation for travel on behalf of The Lost & Found Association for corporate business may be considered.
